Had to stop and think what day is was..what a long week. And I'm not saying this because of NaNoWriMo, just because it has been a long week. Got lots of other stuff completed this week besides working 40 hours, catching up on laundry, and shelling out over 12000 words for the novel. Decided to take a mental break from writing on the novel. Did a little bit of writing, but it was more character development, ideas for what will happen, procrastination, you know.
Husband said I was ahead in the word count anyway, so to take a break tonight. So, we watched a movie. Or, I watched a movie and tried to get rid of a headache while he asked me, "is this too bulky for the cannons?" Always warhammer around here, I'm telling you.
Had a fight with the word processor on the word cliche today. It just wouldn't take the word as spelled correctly. Ugh, computers these days have a mind of their own.
Because my husband is determined not to write his novel while on the clock, I am trying to be as good as he is. So, today when I took over the receptionist area at work and had nothing to do, it was very hard not to write. So instead, I looked over the novel from 2006. I actually made myself laugh out loud. Some of that stuff was really funny! The best part was trying to explain NaNo to the IT guy at work. Here is almost how our conversation went:
"Hey, how are you?"- him
"Good, it's Friday" - me
"Yup, always glad when it's Friday. You have any big plans?" - him
"Nope." -me
"Oh, just going to relax?" - him
"Nope." - me
"What are you going to do all weekend then?" he looked puzzled
"Writing a novel." -me
"You're what? This weekend?" -him, very confused yet interested
From here I showed him the website, and explained how to write a novel in 30 days and complete it. Had to explain that you just get it out, that there is no turning back to look at punctuation, grammar, or content until December. He then mentioned that he wished he had that kind of time. I explained, you just have to make time and just do it. It's only 1667 words a day, every day in November. And it doesn't have to be perfect by any means. I then emailed him the link to the web page.
Go me for spreading the word of the crazy NaNo writers.
