Day Seven

It was only 10:15 AM this morning when I called my mom and a bit of a panic. I can say now that "novel brain" has set in. I took the kids (my 2 dogs) to the vet this morning. We have two dogs by the way, one Baden, who is a three year old mixed breed that friends of ours found in the woods. He is the comic relief in the family and to lots of people who know him. Cassie, is a 12 year old mixed breed we adopted from my mother and brother this past August. She is also known as "grandma" in our house just because she rarely gets too excited and just hangs out and wants to be petted. Anyway, Baden has struvite crystals which basically means his PH level is a little high and creates crystals in his urine. There has never been a physical sign of this. Ever. We wouldn't have even knows until we did the full blood work on him that our vet in Ohio suggested we do. He has since then been to 5 different doctors and none of them have found a "cure." Three of them wanted to medicate him and use Science Diet food (which is all filler and absolutely disgusting in my opinion) one said not to worry, 50% of dogs are found to have this when tested for other blood related reasons and they owners, like me, have never seen a physical sign leading to do the test, and the other vet, oye, we won't go there. So, this morning I took the kids to see a vet that practices holistic medicine. Very happy with this vet. She is more, it's about the diet and adding a supplement here and there. Cassie had to go because she needed an update on a vaccination. So, the car ride to the vet is fine. We get to the vet and not a single problem. It was just the dogs being themselves and shedding massive amounts of dog hair all over the exam room and me absorbing all this information about holistic approaches to Baden's condition. I got a tour of the building (how many vets do that?)and then I go to pay and know to have my credit card ready because I am holding this packet of info the vet tech just handed me and both dogs. The vet tech helps me to the door (he walked Baden, there were other dogs in the waiting room and Baden thinks that all dogs are here on earth to play with him). I get to the car and put the packet of info on the roof of the car and get the dogs in and get myself in without any issues. I get home I go to reach for the packet and, wait a minute, where is it? Enter choice bad word here; probably said them all after realizing I just lost all the info they had just handed me on holistic medicine and diet, all of Cassie's vaccination information, my invoice, just littered possibly all over the highway . I have no idea where it is. It's probably floating somewhere on 540 because my "novel brain" was then set on getting the dogs home and to start writing and did not remember to grab the packet off the roof.
Just so you know, I am a "things happen for a reason kind of person." SO, this week when I saw that someone had left their McDonald's cup on their roof of the car that they had left after lunch, should have taken that as a more distinct clue. Also because of the events this morning, I called my mom worried about my credit card info that was on the invoice that was stapled to the receipt that was in my packet that is now on the high way (I did call the vet and the receptionist went to look in the parking lot and the packet was no where to be found, so I am assuming that it flew off as I got onto the interstate. I never saw evidence of the packet flying off. Because of this, I decided it was a sign to just stay home today and work on the novel. My brain is no good behind the wheel of a car or having to handle anything else that isn't 100 percent novel invested, apparently.
