Who Hoo! Feeling much better. Took some time today and made an outline for what needs to be covered. This helps because I didn't know where this story was going completely when I set off and have at least a better idea now. Kind of.
Nano suggested that someone get taken out by a shovel. There is a whole forum on this topic. I think now this is a challenge I can't pass up; someone will go out in my story by way of shovel. It may just be a dream, because I don't think I like the idea of ending a character.
Last year I explained Nano to one of the IT guys that work with. He was really excited about the idea, but said he was too busy to take up the challenge. This year, our converstaion felt slightly more advanced than the one last year.
Today, conversation with IT guy went something like this:
Him: So, are you writing?
Me: Yup.
Him: So, how's it going?
Me: Good, I've got 18000 words now.
Him: (with look of surprise) Wow, so what is it?
Me: (thinking you should not ask that questions, because i won't tell you, but i knew it was coming...note to self, should maybe put something togehter to tell people when i get this question in the future) Oh, i don't know yet.
Him: Wait, what? So you just sit there and type 18000 words of "becca type and no play..."
Me: Well, I have my characters developed (gave brief description) but don't know what is going to happen to them yet.
Him: Wait, the characters are what? (he laughs at my charactesr, and I try to dedcribe them better)
Him: and how much drugs do you do? (joking of course)
I fumble with words in person...that's the joy about writing. If you say something and don't explain well enough the first time, you get a second chance on the page.
