40th Blog and done with the Novel for 2010

Whoot Whoot!

I finished the novel with a total around 50500 words, or something close to that. I wrote for about three hours on Wednesday night until the sugar rush had died out and my head felt fuzzy. At this point i new I would need to sub-come to sleep or I was going to kill off all my characters and the monkey too.
Thursday morning, it was up at 5:30 and a mad dash to the finish line. At 9:30 the novel had crossed the 50000 line and there were joyous cheers from the husbands office where the novel was finished. And then it was time to pack the car for Thanksgiving holidays in Roanoke, VA. And make the fruit salad.

I have this fear that cropped up in 2006 when i first tried Nano. If the novel isn't done by Thanksgiving, it's not getting finished. The first year, in 06, this happened. In 08, 09 and now 10 the novels have been successfully finished first drafts by Thanksgiving, or as this year, on Thanksgiving which leaves time to enjoy my time with family and eating. The best part the arrival home today around 1 pm and crashing into bed until about 3. I have missed sleep!

This past weekend was so much fun!
Thursday we had Thanksgiving dinner with the husband's side of the family, plus my best friend and my bother and his daughter. And the dogs were there too.

Friday morning it was up at 6 to go over at my mom's by 6:30 to babysit for my niece while my brother went to work. Friday was a long, long day.

The husband, who promised to teach me to play magic after the novel was done, tried to get in one game before my niece woke up. We managed to get in a second and third game (the first one of the morning was put away so my niece didn't hurt the cards, the second one, I won! and the last one I was killed off miserably.)
Friday night the husband and i took a nap on the sofa in the living room and then ran to Famous Anthony's for dinner. Then it was off for some late night Black Friday shopping with my mom and her boyfriend.

Saturday, mom and i were supposed to go downtown, but we ended up watching my niece instead. The best friend and i saw Harry Potter 7.1 and then went to a It Works party while the husband went to the Tech game.

That evening we went to Logans for dinner. Sunday it was church with mom, lunch with the husbands family and then Thanksgiving dinner with my mom, mom's boyfriend, brother, brother's girlfriend, my husband, and best friend. When all of us get together and sit down, it gets crazy and last night there was lots of crazy!

This morning was the other thing we had to do and then by 10:25 we were on the road back to Raleigh. It was good to be home and take a nap in my own bed!

This was after i had to flush my fish who had passed away over the long holiday weekend.
