Sick-ly

Ever since I was a kid I have had sore throats. I don't know why the doctors never wanted to take my tonsils out because they were always infected. With the novel finished and the Thanksgiving Holiday over it all hit me just how sick I really was. The husband, dogs and I arrived home Friday night from the in-laws and dragged out all the Christmas decorations and started to prep the house for the next holiday, and our first Christmas in the new house. We moved furniture, vacuumed up dog hair, moped the floors and put up the Christmas tree. We also put a strand of lights on our fake palm tree that is in the sun room. When all was done and we sat on the sofa to look at our pretty little tree. When I finally took a moment to sit down, I realized my throat started to hurt when I swallowed. I quickly ran and got the chamomile tea and sat down with my warm cup on the sofa for the rest of the night.
In the morning I thought, I will feel better. I had been fighting off this cold for the past two weeks. I loaded up on Vitamin C (even though new studies show now, that vitamin D is what really helps the immune system) and a good dosage of orange juice and Zinc lozenges, I figured I would be good as new in the AM.

Not so much. Saturday morning I still felt a little crummy and my throat was swollen on the right side. The husband, knowing my wonderful history with the illness, asked it I thought it was strep. I said, of course, what else would it be.

We still went sofa shopping because we were hoping on getting a great Thanksgiving holiday sale somewhere and we went to Ci Ci's pizza for lunch and Lowes, for paint, or tubing, whatever it was my husband said it was we needed. I was a pretty good sport, let me tell you.

Sunday, I stayed in bed all day.
Monday I gave up and called off of work and called the doctor. It took less than a minute for the test tub strip for the strep test to show positive. Yay me!
So, I took my prescription to Target and wandered around looking at the Christmas stocking stuffers and waited for the pharmacist to fill my pills for me.
Also picked up some Hershey kisses and apple juice. The boy that gave me the pills behind the counter at the pharmacy had an Australian accent and I was like, wow.
I stayed in bed all day yesterday thinking tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be as good as new. My mom called to check on me and said, Becca, you better stay home tomorrow, you know how long it takes you to recover from strep.
This morning I got up and yep. Mom was right. I stayed in bed all day again, feeling a little better tonight. Being in bed for three days give you a lot of time for reading and making lists of things that need doing. Now I have a list of things I want to get done when back to speed. It's attached to that ever so long list of things to do once the novel was finished.
Oye, I hope to get this all done...so much laundry still awaits!
